Flour Packing - Fawema Packaging Operator
Description

The flour packer – packaging operator is responsible for the effective and efficient packaging of milled product, including the set-up, changeover, troubleshooting and maintenance of the flour packing equipment including the Fawema.

Responsibilities
  • Operates and maintains efficient performance on flour packaging line while meeting quota.
  • Ensures that flour transfer is made from correct flour bin.
  • Ensures that only good quality packed product enters warehouse.
  • Ensures all bags are folded, sealed, and wrapped correctly before leaving packaging area.
  • Completion of ongoing checks of code dates and correction of any problems to ensure that each packed bag leaving the packaging area is readable and dated correctly.
  • Ensures bags are dated correctly before entering warehouse.
  • Ensures changeovers and adjustments are made to accommodate different bag sizes.
  • Ensures all packed products are stacked on skids in a correct way according to pattern.
  • Ensures all skids with packed product are numbered to provide an easy identification in case of call back.
  • Performs quality assurance checks as per outlined procedure.
  • Fills out production reports.
  • Maintains good sanitary condition in working area and packaging equipment while packaging is in process. Leave packaging area and equipment clean and empty all re-run/feed bags at warehouse dumping station at end of shift.
  • Maintains all production machinery in good operating condition, in co-operation with Maintenance Department. Advises supervisor of problems.
  • Corrects and cleans up any spills of product in the product transfer system being used (plug-ups, broken lines, etc.). Reports sanitation issues to supervisor.
  • Responsible for compliance with Canada Labour Occupational Health and Safety requirements and company safety standards. Is aware of critical control points as they relate to product liability
  • Follow Good Manufacturing (GMP’s) while performing job duties and tasks. Performs all other related job duties and tasks, including training, as required.
Qualifications
  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Aptitude for computerized control systems.
  • Mechanical aptitude for diagnosing and solving production equipment malfunctions.
  • Machine Operator experience
  • Self-motivated team player with a strong work ethic able to work independently as well as with cross departmental team members.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to use initiative.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to lift 25 kg on a repetitive basis and work in hot and or dusty environments.
  • Available for shift work as well as work on weekends, holidays, and call outs as required.
