General Purpose


The Product Technician I is responsible for performing all lab quality control tests.

  • Grade 12 or equivalent including completion of Grade 12 Math & Grade 12 Chemistry.
  • Completion of Assigned AIB Courses within a 12 month period will be required.
  • Aptitude for & experience with computer applications.
  • Self-motivated team player with strong work ethic.
  • Above average interpersonal & communication skills.
  • Proven problem-solving skills with an ability to work in stressful situations.
  • Willing and available for shift work. (holidays, weekends and call outs if needed)
  • Perform moisture, ash, protein, farinograph, baking, pH, viscosity, brix, sodium, taste-testing, slick test, and sieve analysis. Full training provided.
  • Generate CoA’s (Certificate of Analysis) as required.
  • Makes ship/hold/ decisions based on QC testing results.
  • Daily computer entry of all results.
  • Performs finished product re-testing and customer complaint investigations.
  • Assists with the review, drafting and updating of QC Procedural Manuals.
  • Performs equipment calibrations, ingredient inspections & prepares samples for external testing.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly Lab & adherence to the Master sanitation schedule.
  • Is aware of critical control points as they relate to product liability.
  • Follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) while performing job duties and tasks.
  • Performs all other related duties, including training and product development as required.
  • Responsible for compliance with Canada Labour Occupational Health and Safety requirements and company safety standards.
