General Purpose:

 

The QC Lab Technician is responsible to learn and perform all lab quality control tests.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

 

  • Grade 12 or equivalent including completion of Grade 12 Chemistry.
  • Graduation from a recognized food science program, with training in quality control would be an asset or Completion of Assigned AIB Courses within a 12 month period will be required (failure to complete the assigned courses will result in being removed from the position).
  • An aptitude for and experience with computer applications.
  • Self-motivated team player with a strong work ethic.
  • Above average interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to work in stressful situations while demonstrating a professional and positive attitude when faced with challenges.
  • Available for shift work as well as work on weekends, holidays and call outs as required.
Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Performs moisture, ash, protein, farinograph, bake, falling number, viscosity, starch damage and other related testing
  • Generate CoA’s (Certificate of Analysis) as required.
  • Make ship/hold decisions including updating related computer programs.
  • Daily computer entry of all results.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly condition of the laboratory.
  • Keeps working area in a clean and orderly condition, which includes issuing and making sure the Master Sanitation Schedule is kept up.
  • Works responsibly throughout shift.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work effectively with other employees and members of the management team.
  • Meets deadlines and completes projects as assigned in a timely manner.
  • Maintains efficient and safe performance in all areas of work.
  • Responsible for compliance with Canada Labour Occupational Health and Safety requirements and company safety standards.
  • Follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) while performing job duties and tasks.
  • Performs all other related duties, including training, relief and product development as required.
