Journeyman Helper
Description

The Journeyman Helper assists in the maintenance of existing equipment and the installation of new equipment throughout the plant.

Qualifications
  • A grade 12 education or equivalent.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude.
  • 3 to 5 years’ maintenance experience in an industrial setting.
  • Must be a self starter with the ability to use initiative.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good working relationship with supervisors and fellow employees.
  • Willing and available for shift-work, including weekends, holidays and emergency call-outs as required.
Responsibilities
  • Helps maintain and repair equipment and components under the direction of a supervisor or qualified journeyman.
  • Performs designated duties as assigned such as corrugation, cleaning, construction, painting and other maintenance and mechanical work as trained and required.
  • Communicates with other departments in a courteous and diplomatic manner, always showing a high degree of cooperation.
  • Is aware of critical control points as they relate to product liability.
  • Works responsibly throughout scheduled shifts.
  • Responsible for compliance with Canada Labour Occupational Health and Safety requirements and company safety standards.
  • Follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) while performing tasks in production areas.
  • Performs other tasks, including training, as required.
