Description

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for equipment reliability and asset management of the site.  This position will oversee the identification and execution of site level projects and lead the optimization of maintenance operations. The position will provide oversight and guidance to the maintenance team, implement preventative maintenance programs, and leverage the ERP system to optimize maintenance planning and data analysis.

 

Qualifications

Preferred:

  • Degree in Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical or a related field.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred
  • Certifications in Maintenance Management – Certified Maintenance Management Professional (MMP)

– Project Management Professional (PMP)

– Lean Six Sigma

Required:

  • Inter-Provincial Trades Certificate (Red Seal Certification).
  • 10+ years of professional experience in a maintenance leadership role in an industrial manufacturing environment, or equivalent.
  • Proven and demonstrable track record of improving maintenance efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of industrial equipment, automation, and maintenance best practices.
  • Proficiency in using data analytics to predict equipment failures and optimize maintenance schedule.
  • Thorough understanding of workplace health and safety standards.
  • Knowledge or continuous improvement tools and methodologies (Lean, 5S) is an asset.
Responsibilities

Maintenance Management

  • Oversee departmental performance. Establishes performance matrix and key performance indicators of maintenance department to measure performance and identify gaps. Reports department performance to senior management.
  • Establish a maintenance program, including schedules, protocols, and procedures to optimize the performance of assets and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements (GMP, Safety).
  • Coordinate with production teams to prioritize maintenance activities and minimize disruptions to operations.
  • Oversee and optimize parts inventory program, ensuring costs are effectively managed and business continuity is maintained.
  • Lead site level change management for new infrastructure and assets, to ensure effective planning, successful implementation, deliver against startup goals and update or establish new maintenance programs as needed.

 

Asset Management and Lifecycle Planning

  • Develop and implement asset management strategies to optimize the lifecycle of equipment and infrastructure.
  • Conduct regular assessments of asset condition, performance, and depreciation to inform maintenance and replacement decisions.
  • Oversee and optimize the CMMS to ensure the timely and accurate completion of work orders and inventory, maintaining precise metrics.
  • Develop long term asset replacement plans and budget forecasts to ensure the continued reliability and efficiency of critical assets.

 

Leadership and Team Development

  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the maintenance team, fostering a culture of collaboration.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, set performance goals, and provide ongoing feedback and coaching to direct reports.
  • Conduct skills assessment to identify training and development opportunities to enhance the technical skills and capabilities of the team.
  • Promoting a culture of safety and efficiency within the team.

 

Capital Investment Planning 

  • Develop and maintain a strategic capital investment plan to support the long-term growth and sustainability of our facilities.
  • Evaluate capital expenditure proposals, conduct cost-benefit analyses, and make recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with milling, engineering, finance, and procurement to secure funding, procure equipment, manage vendor relationships.

 

Project Management

  • Plans, manages, executes, and controls all aspects of assigned Maintenance capital projects, in alignment with the divisional strategy and departmental objectives.
  • Manage and monitor the assigned projects throughout implementation stage, anticipate and proactively manage change throughout the project lifestyle.
  • Present and report on the Maintenance project progress, risks, expectations, timelines, milestones, and key metrics to leadership.

 

Compliance and Regulatory Oversight

  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with relevant regulatory requirements, industry standards and company policies.
  • Stay informed about changes in regulations and standards.
  • Aware of critical control points as they relate to product liability.
  • Resonsible for compliance with Canada Labour Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) while performing job duties and tasks.
