Cereal Packing Operator
Description

The Cereal Packing Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining efficient performance of the Cereal Packaging equipment and line to meet production standards and customer demands.

Qualifications
  • Aptitude for operating computerized packing equipment.
  • Self-starter, with the ability to use initiative, but also able to work as part of a team.
  • Good working relationship with supervisors, warehouse team members and other departmental staff.
  • Mechanical aptitude for diagnosing and solving problems with or without assistance from maintenance.

Available for shiftwork as required

Responsibilities
  • Packages product and fills out production, packaging, and quality assurance reports.
  • Ensures that good quality packed products enter the warehouse.
  • Checks that all bags bales and boxes are sealed correctly before leaving packaging area.
  • Performs ongoing checks of dates on bags and corrects problems to ensure that each date on packed materials is legible and correctly dated.
  • Ensures that all cereal products are correctly transferred from bins or dumping stations. Gives instructions to personnel involved in dumping products, as required.
  • Stacks packed products on skids according to established patterns.
  • Numbers packed skids to provide identification in case of call back due to quality control.
  • Performs quality assurance checks on packed products on shifts if the regular Quality Control person is not available.
  • Fills out Hold/Reject signs on packed skids in the event of off-standard quality before the product enters the warehouse.
  • Ensures a sanitary condition of packaging equipment and workspace while packaging is in process.
  • Cleans work area and equipment at end of shift, with all rerun/feed bags emptied at the warehouse dumping station.
  • Cleans up and corrects any spills of product in the product transfer system due to changeovers, plug-ups and broken or leaking systems.
  • Must be aware of critical control points as they relate to product liability.
  • Works responsibly throughout scheduled shifts.
  • Responsible for compliance with Canada Labour Occupational Health and Safety requirements and company safety standards.
  • Follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) while performing tasks in production areas.
  • Performs all other related duties and assignments, including training, as required.
