Journeyman Electrician
Description

The Journeyman Electrician repairs and maintains existing electrical systems and equipment and installs those systems and equipment throughout the plant.

 

Qualifications
  • Red Seal Certification as an Electrician. Additional trade qualification experience or training an asset.
  • Maintenance experience in industrial setting.
  • Maintenance experience with PLC’s an asset.
  • Willing and available for emergency callouts as necessary.
  • Willing to work shift work and weekends as necessary.
  • Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces and in areas where there may be exposure to dusts or fumes.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability

Build and maintain solid working relationships with company management, fellow employees, contractors, and customers

Responsibilities
  • Operates hand and electrical tools and equipment safely.
  • Execute wiring plans for lighting and other electrical systems.
  • Install electrical apparatus, fixtures and equipment for alarms and other systems.
  • Install safety and distribution components (e.g., switches, resistors, circuit-breaker panels etc.)
  • Connect wiring in electrical circuits and networks ensuring compatibility of components.
  • Prepare and assemble conduits and connect wiring through them.
  • Routinely inspect and replace aged/damaged wiring and insulated cables, cleaning circuits etc.
  • Perform effective troubleshooting to identify hazards or malfunctions and repair or substitute damaged units.
  • Provides training and guidance to employees as required.
  • Is aware of critical control points as they relate to product liability.
  • Works responsibly throughout scheduled shifts.
  • Operates forklifts and other company equipment.
  • Communicates with other departments in a courteous and diplomatic manner, always showing a high degree of cooperation.
  • Responsible for compliance with Canada Labour Occupational Health and Safety requirements and company safety standards.
  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) while performing job duties and tasks.
