1 cup (250 mL) crisp rice cereal | |
1 cup (250 mL) unsweetened shredded coconut | |
1 cup (250 mL) sunflower seeds | |
½ cup (125 mL) sesame seeds | |
1 cup (250 mL) dried fruit (e.g. cranberries, raisins, chopped apricots) | |
3/4 cup (175 mL) packed brown sugar | |
½ cup (125 mL) butter | |
½ cup (125 mL) honey |
These stove- top, nut-free bars are simple to make with ROGERS PORRIDGE OATS & ANCIENT GRAINS, seeds and dried fruit. They are a nutritious grab and go snack for the entire family.
1. | In a medium bowl, combine ROGERS PORRIDGE OATS & ANCIENT GRAINS, crisp rice cereal, coconut, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, and dried fruit; set aside. |
2. | In a large pot, combine brown sugar, butter, and honey. Over medium heat, stir to melt butter, dissolve sugar, and combine ingredients. When mixture begins to boil, stir in dry ingredients. Cook, stirring constantly, for 2 minutes. |
3. | Transfer mixture into a lightly greased 9 in x 13 in (23 cm x 33 cm) baking dish. Press mixture down with the back of a spoon or damp hands to firmly and evenly pack it into the dish |
4. | Let cool completely, about 2 hours. Cut into bars. |
5. | Bars can be stored in an airtight container for up to 5 days in the refrigerator. |
