You don’t have to be a vegan to appreciate how fantastic these ‘burgers’ taste. They are a great meal to try for your meatless Mondays.
250 ml (1 cup) Rogers Oats | |
125 ml (1/2 cup) breadcrumbs | |
125 ml (1/2 cup) grated parmesan cheese | |
3 eggs | |
60 ml (1/4 cup) sesame seeds | |
60 ml (1/4 cup) sunflower seeds | |
30 ml (2 tbsp) dry parsley | |
2.5 ml (1/2 tsp) freshly ground pepper | |
2.5 ml (1/2 tsp) paprika | |
5 ml (1 tsp) garlic powder | |
5 ml (1 tsp) onion powder | |
30 ml (2 tbsp) dried herbs | |
125 ml (1/2 cup) water | |
30 ml (2 tbsp) tamari or soy sauce | |
Salt, to taste | |

You don’t have to be a vegan to appreciate how fantastic these ‘burgers’ taste. They are a great meal to try for your meatless Mondays.
1. | In a large bowl, combine the oatmeal, breadcrumbs, grated cheese, eggs, sesame and sunflower seeds, parsley, pepper, paprika, and vegetable flakes. Add the water and mix well until smooth. Leave to rest for 15 minutes. |
2. | Shape into 8 patties. If sticky, grease hands slightly when forming patties. |
3. | Heat a little vegetable oil in a large heavy skillet and fry the patties until golden brown. |
4. | Pour enough water to cover halfway up the patties, add the tamari and cook over medium heat for 10 minutes, turning them a few times in the cooking juices. |
5. | When the liquid is completely reduced, serve immediately. |
